Ok, let me just start off by saying I LOVED this book. This is probably my favourite book of 2015 so far.
The Martian by Andy Weir is about a Mars astronaut called Mark Watney. After a severe dust storm pretty much as soon as they arrive in Mars, the mission has to be aborted and Mark’s crewmates end up leaving him behind thinking that he is dead. And that’s, of course, not the case.
Mark finds himself utterly alone in Mars and has to work out a way to survive for a really really long time in a place that he was only meant to stay for 31 days. With no communication with Earth or his crewmates, no food supply and faulty equipment and so on, Mark logs his time on Mars. And that’s essentially what this book is. At least for most part of it.
